We are all on a journey of growth and discovery, in this life and beyond, and our most significant relationships provide rich opportunities for our soul’s evolution. As you well know, we can learn a great deal from relationships that are not easy; but the truth is that most of us are seeking love, respect, and mutual support in our intimate relationships.
In numerology we use several different core numbers to determine the likelihood of compatibility. One number that is easy to calculate is the life path, as determined by your day, month, and year of birth. This can be a strong indicator of potential for relationship harmony, because the life path number tells you about the road that each of you must follow in this journey. It is a strong indicator of how you were meant to contribute to the world, and the kinds of experiences you are seeking to create for yourself. An individual’s life path number will tell you a lot about the lifestyle that he or she will embrace. It is a highly impactful and enduring number, one that brings you power and energy, and will shape your life from birth to death.
Calculate your life path by adding all of the numbers in your complete date of birth as follows:
September 14, 1967 is calculated like this: 9+1+4+1+9+6+7=37, 3+7=1
This person has a 1 life path
In numerology we keep adding the digits together until we have a one digit number, unless the number we have is an 11, 22, or 33
April 8, 1961 is calculated like this 4+8+1+9+6+1=29 2+9=11
This person has an 11 life path.
1 If you have a 1 life path, you need to shine. You value independence and self-reliance. You need a partner who appreciates your originality, and gives you space and independence to “do your own thing”. You may be most compatible with someone who has a 5, 7, 9, or 11 life path. A negative expression of the 1 energy would be immaturity, lack of accountability, or self-centred, domineering behaviour.
2 If you have a 2 life path you need someone who shares their hopes and dreams with you, includes you in their plans and appreciates your support. You value partnership and team work. You may be most compatible with someone who has a 2, 4, or 6 life path. A negative expression of the 2 would be a tendency to overload the relationship, and rely too heavily on one person to meet all of one’s needs.
3 If you have a 3 life path, you need someone who listens to you, appreciates your sense of humour, and doesn’t feel threatened by your talent and gregarious nature. For some 3’s there may also benefit in having a partner who brings some added stability. You may be most compatible with someone who has a 1, 5, or 6 life path. A negative expression of the 3 energy would be insincerity and superficial interactions.
4 If you have a 4 life path, you need someone with a steady income, someone with fairly traditional values, and someone who wants to build a home and family and lay strong foundations. You value long term security. You may be most compatible with someone who has a 6, 7, or 8 life path. A negative expression of 4 energy would be rigid thinking and lack of affection.
5 If you have a 5 life path, you need someone who shares your curiosity about the world, enjoys doing interesting things with you but doesn’t get upset if you need to go off by yourself. You value freedom and independence. You may be most compatible with someone who has a 1, 5, or 9 life path. A negative expression of 5 energy would be lack of responsibility or reliability.
6 If you have a 6 life path, you need someone who is well-groomed and well-mannered, someone who not only respects you, but also shows respect to your family and friends. You value loyalty and fairness in all of your relationships. You may be most compatible with someone who has a 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, or 22 life path. A negative expression of 6 energy would be rescuing or controlling behaviour.
7 If you have a 7 life path you may be a perfectionist and it may take you a long time to find someone, particularly if your birthday falls on the 7th or 16th of the month. You need a quiet, well-ordered personal life – the fewer surprises the better. You need someone who shares some of your interests on an intellectual level, and usually this means someone with the same level of education. You value peace, tranquility and time to yourself. You may be compatible with someone who has a 1, 4, 9, or 11 life path. A negative expression of 7 energy would be deceptive behaviour and lack of communication.
8 If you have an 8 life path, you need someone who has a strong work ethic, a progressive attitude and a big vision for the future. You don’t crave a lot of attention from your partner but you do need some and you want to know that his or her commitment is firm. You value prosperity but most importantly it must be accompanied by fair and ethical treatment of others. You may be most compatible with someone who has a 4, 5, 6, 8, or 22 life path. A negative expression of 8 energy would be a tendency to put family life on the back burner, or an egotistical use of power.
9 If you have a 9 life path you need someone who is willing to work with you in synergistic ways for the good of others, someone who is not threatened by your need to be out in the public arena. You value generosity and kindness. You may be most compatible with someone who has a 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, or 33 life path. A negative expression of the 9 energy would be a tendency to be overly idealistic or dramatic, and hard to please.
11 This is not a highly compatible number, as people with strong 11 energy often find it hard to get close to anyone. As with the 7,you need someone who is at the same level as you with regards to intellect and education, and is not emotionally needy. Being on the same page with regards to spirituality is also important. You value clarity and truth, and direct communication. You may be compatible with a 7, 9, or 33. A negative expression of 11 would be arrogance and/or impracticality.
22 If you have a 22 life path, you need a partner who is action oriented with a strong work ethic and a desire to be of service. It also helps if this person is interested in travel. You value drive, dedication, and possibility thinking. You might be compatible with someone who has a 6, 8, 9, or 22 life path. A negative expression of 22 energy would be greed and misuse of power.
33 If you have a 33 life path, you need someone who appreciates your right to sing your song and speak your truth, particularly when it comes to speaking out for justice and fairness. You value courage and compassion. You might be compatible with someone who has a 3, 6, 9, or 11 life path. A negative expression of 33 energy would be moodiness and too much self-sacrificing.
You’ll notice from the descriptors above, that some life path numbers are more flexible than others, and that in some cases it is not the best idea to be in a partnership with someone who has the same life path. While the life path is a good indicator, it is important to remember that we all have several different numbers in our profile, and that they work together as we develop our souls and co-create our journey.
